The annual awards are given to companies who
demonstrate their commitment and understanding of technology's ability
to improve the company and enhance the bottom line. The judging is
conducted by an independent panel of industry experts. Recently, Altman Lighting has worked closely with Exact Software to implement Exacts Macola® ERP enterprise resource planning solution and e-Synergy®, Exact’s business process solution, into its IT infrastructure. Looking to the future, Altman invested in a computer network and committed to upgrading its business processes. The company settled on Exact Software’s ERP solutions because the packages allowed a flexible growth path for the company to follow. “Communication with customers has always been critical to the company and with the advent of new communication technologies the company needed to take a look at its current and future technology infrastructure to better serve our customers now and in the foreseeable future,” says Roger Pujol, Assistant General Manager at Altman Lighting. “The implementation of a CRM software package allows our customer support staff to have all previous communications with the customer at their disposal regardless of which communication channel was used.” “The current technologies that are in use at Altman Lighting are all to provide our customers with a self-service option of instant information access—24/7—around the globe,” says Pujol. “Our customer base—and society in general—has come to expect instant information and answers. Our customers will be able to track orders, shipments, and projects, all in real time.” “We were pleased to have been recognized by Start Magazine,” says Robert Altman, President of Altman Lighting. “This award lets us know that we are doing the right things to make sure we are meeting—or exceeding—our customers' expectations of Altman Lighting. Customer service has always been a cornerstone of our company and this software not only improves that relationship, but also gives our people a powerful tool.” “Altman was delighted to receive the Smart magazine T&B award, certainly unexpected and an honor,” adds Pujol. “The CRM package, E-Synergy has benefited not only our customers and employees, but our bottom line. Altman Lighting has had a 10-year relationship with Exact Software and was pleased to be one of the early users of E-Synergy.” “Start magazine’s Technology and Business Awards is such an excellent chance to commemorate such exemplary manufacturing companies. Each of them is a tremendous success and very deserving of this recognition,” says Peggy Smedley, editorial director of Start magazine. Without the support of our readers and a stellar sponsor like IBM, the T&B event would not be possible. We hope to uphold the traditions of what has become a prestigious, annual event.” “We are excited to be part of the T&B event that honors companies that have used technology to address such topics as how service to existing customers was improved, product differentiation, and unforeseen industry changes,” says Patrick Sedillo, Segment Executive, Industrial Sector, Small and Medium Business, IBM Americas. “These companies strive for success each and every day,” said John Buell, editor-in-chief of Start magazine. “Because of this, they have become some of the most prominent manufacturers in the business. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize these achievements.” The 2005 T&B Awards ceremony was held in August in
Chicago. Winners will be featured in the cover story of Start Magazine's
October 2005 issue and can also be found online at
